The first BMW Electric Mini Cooper will arrive in 2019

According to the BMW Group, this is a variant of the three-door model and will be manufactured at its plant in Oxford, England.


The first Mini Cooper electric model will begin production in 2019, as announced by the conglomerate BMW Group on Tuesday .

The Mini Electric will be a version of the three-door model, the classic of the British firm that was acquired - and revived - by BMW since the 1990s. BMW says the plant will be manufacturing the Mini Cooper electric cars based on demand. "Our adaptive production system is innovative and able to react quickly to change based on consumer demand," said Oliver Zipse, a member of the BMW board of directors. "We can increase the production of electrical transmission components quickly and efficiently, as the market demands." 

BMW expects that between 15 and 25 percent of sales will be for electric models by 2025. The German company and luxury car maker says it will create structures that allow it to manufacture combustion engines, hybrid or fully electric. 

The manufacturer says that in addition to the electric Mini, more models come with this same engine on the way, such as the BMW X3 truck in 2020 and the BMW iNEXT in 2021. Currently, BMW claims to have nine electric cars on the market and presumes to be The manufacturer with more models of electric cars available to buy.
